Listed below are examples of service learning opportunities available to students on the CET Sicily program. Other options are available. If you have a particular area of interest that is not represented below, please contact CET, so we can help you find a good match.
Language School Federico II CET students will work in marketing the school internationally through
the web, international associations and mailings. The Federico II Language
School offers a vibrant atmosphere in an historic palace just off of Piazza
Duomo.
Associazione Culturale SpazioVitale
In The Associazione Culturale SpazioVitale In is concerned with the
discovery and promotion of contemporary art and artists. CET students will
assist the organization in its efforts to organize and promote art exhibits for
contemporary artists.
Amatori Rugby
Club Catania The Amatori Rugby Club has a rich
history in the sport and was recently promoted back to the premier Italian
rugby league. CET students will work with Carlo to not only promote the Amatori
but also in outreach events at local schools where rugby principles and
techniques are taught to children.
AVIS Catania AVIS Catania is a local chapter of
the Italian national association for blood donation. CET students will assist
the association in its ongoing blood drive.
Liceo
Cutelli CET students will be assigned to one or more English language classes
and will assist the instructor by providing conversation lessons and one-on-one
tutoring to students. Liceo Cutelli is a ClassicalStudiesHigh
School in Catania.
Scuola Elementare Mario Rapisardi CET students will be assigned to one or more English language classes
and will assist the instructor by providing conversation lessons and one-on-one
tutoring to students. Scuola Elementare Mario Rapisardi is an experimental
institution (K – 6th grade) that takes great pride in the work that
it does.
FENICE Onlus FENICE is an organization that provides services for the elderly,
handicapped and home bound individuals. The organization strives to make the
lives of these individuals better through social programs. CET students work on
a number of different teams and different projects.
University of Catania – Office of International Relations In the beautiful building of the Office of International Relations next
to Villa Bellini gardens CET students will assist the office in its efforts to
facilitate study abroad opportunities for both outbound and inbound students.
Other duties include organizing activities for international students.
Mani Tese Mani Tese is a non-profit that works
to promote justice in the world. The organization operates both locally and
internationally. CET students would help with more of the day-to-day work: food
drives, used item collection and distribution, etc.
