Air Travel CET is able to offer students round trip international tickets at competitive prices through our travel partner, Premiere Travel. Students who choose to purchase their air tickets through Premiere Travel can fly to their destination on a flight that may also have other CET program students.
Students accepted to a CET program can contact Premiere Travel to receive information about flights and how to purchase tickets. In addition, students will receive, approximately two weeks prior to the program start date, information about transferring from the airport to the program site upon arrival.
Continuing Student Discount Past participants agree: the combination of two or more CET programs is greater than the sum of its parts! Spending a full academic year abroad puts students firmly on the path toward linguistic and cultural expertise. We encourage all students to consider this option and will provide a $500 discount for each additional semester you enroll with CET.
A Note About Costs CET reserves the right to increase quoted charges at any time without prior notification, based on increased instruction costs, exchange rate fluctuation or other cost increases beyond CET's control. This right includes but is not limited to surcharging students for additional costs incurred due to under-enrollment in any given course.
Insurance Medical insurance is provided to CET students by Cultural Insurance Services International and is included in the price of the program. For more information about specific coverage, download the CISI Coverage Brochure.
Passports and Visas Visas are included in the program fees. Students must have a valid passport in order to receive a visa. Students receive complete instructions on visa procurement upon acceptance.
Credits and Transcripts One of the questions we are most frequently asked is: "How many credits will I receive for attending a CET program?"
The simple answer to this question is that CET does not award credit. Instead, CET recommends an appropriate number of credits for each course and it is up to the discretion of each student's home institution to award credits according to its own credit system. The vast majority of institutions whose students have attended CET's programs have granted credit according to CET's recommendations.
In order to facilitate the process of credit awards, CET provides each student upon written request an official transcript jointly issued by the overseas host institution and CET. The transcript states the names of all courses taken, the total number of course contact hours, the total number of class hours attended by the student, all grades earned and recommended credits for each course. Because CET requires that all students take a full course load regardless of program, and prohibits students from taking courses pass/fail, CET consistently recommends that students receive a full semester's worth of credit for each program. Recommended credits for each course are noted in each program's Academics section of this website. CET will not issue a transcript for any student who has an outstanding account balance.
Cancellations and Refunds CET reserves the right to cancel any program prior to departure, in which case the entire payment, including processing fees, will be refunded without further obligation on our part.
Students who choose to cancel prior to a program's start date are eligible for a partial refund even if CET later decides to cancel the program. If an enrolled student chooses to interrupt his/her participation after a program's commencement, for any reason whatsoever, or chooses not to attend certain parts of the program, there is no refund for any unused portions of that program.
Please note that CET does not accept liability for any airline cancellation penalty incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket.
Administration CET's Japan program is jointly administered by CET and Osaka Gakuin University. Program academics are overseen by an Advisory Board of faculty from US colleges and universities. CET maintains full-time staff who are responsible for administering the academic program and assisting students on a daily basis. CET is a division of Academic Travel Abroad, which has been providing educational programs to non-profit institutions for over 60 years.
Student Selection The admissions committee selects students based on their academic performance, recommendations, seriousness of purpose and desire to participate in the program. CET's minimum cumulative GPA for admissions is 3.0; exceptions may be made under special circumstances.
