Most students who require financial
assistance in order to study abroad obtain it from their home
institutions. We encourage you to meet with your home institution's financial aid office to learn about the funding opportunities available to you.
CET offers more than $50,000 in scholarships each year. While competition for these scholarships is intense, we encourage all accepted students to apply. Scholarship applications are made available to applicants in their online CET accounts. More information about CET scholarships is below.
CET
Academic Programs is proud to offer its participants over $50,000 in
scholarship aid each year. We encourage all qualified program
participants to apply for CET scholarships. While the application
process is competitive, CET's scholarships have provided many students
who might have been otherwise unable to study abroad the opportunity to
do so.
How do I apply for a CET scholarship? A scholarship application is
available in each student's online account.
What are the scholarship application deadlines? Scholarship applications are due at the same time as program applications.
How am I evaluated?
All successful applicants will
have demonstrated genuine financial need and a commitment to studying
the relevant country's language and culture. The following criteria are
used in evaluating scholarship applicants: financial need, quality of
academic achievement, English essay and strength of recommendations.
Are continuing students eligible for scholarship consideration?
Yes! Students continuing from
one CET program into another are encouraged to apply for scholarships.
The application deadline is the same for both continuers and new
students. Note that awards are given for one term only, and students
must apply for scholarship consideration each term.
Are there any special scholarships available for continuing students? Yes!
All continuing students receive a $500 continuing student discount.
Please also refer to the Scholarships-At-A-Glance chart to find out
more about scholarships for continuers in Beijing, Harbin, Hangzhou and
Catania.
When do I find out if I've received a scholarship?
Except for the Janterm Graduate
Award, the Marie H. Karger Scholarship for Women and the Lu Tao
Memorial Scholarship, decisions for each scholarship are made
approximately two weeks after the scholarship deadline. Applicants are
notified by e-mail and/or regular mail. Scholarships may not be
deferred and are automatically credited to the recipient's account with
CET.
The
Janterm Graduate Award recipient is notified at the conclusion of
Janterm. Marie H. Karger Scholarship for Women and Lu Tao Memorial
Scholarship recipients will be notified two weeks after the scholarship
is awarded (December, April, or June).
Please
note, CET reserves the right to revoke, cancel or decline to award any
scholarship due to a decline in tuition revenue, the falsification of
any information sent to CET by the applicant, or the expulsion of the
applicant from a CET program.
How much will I receive? In
some cases, one student receives the full scholarship amount for a
program; in other cases, two or more students split the total
scholarship amount for a program. This depends in part on the number
of qualified applicants and their financial need. If a program is
severely under-enrolled, CET may not be able to award the full
scholarship amount.
What is expected of scholarship recipients? All students who receive a scholarship are required to provide CET with the following items:
If
you receive a scholarship based on a memorial fund, you will be
expected to write to the donor or the fund contact person during your
time abroad.
Scholarship recipients take photographs of their program and submit them to CET.
Upon
completion of the program, all students who receive a scholarship write
a report of a minimum of two pages about their experiences abroad.
Notes about Specific CET Scholarships
You do not need to fill out an application for the Janterm Graduate

into a spring semester program in Beijing
or Harbin . The Janterm Graduate
Award is awarded at the discretion of the residential and teaching staff in
Beijing and is based primarily on
the student's performance during the January Term. All Janterm students who are
continuing into a spring term with CET are automatically considered for this
award, and do not need to submit a scholarship application.

in her studies and achievements. All eligible scholarship applicants will be considered for this award.

(or students) attending the spring term of the Jewish Studies in Prague
program. This scholarship is available for students who have
demonstrated leadership in Jewish life at their school. Financial need
and academic achievement are also factors in awarding this
scholarship. This scholarship requires a
separate letter of recommendation
from a Hillel staff member (or JCSC
fellow), who should explain how the applicant has contributed to Jewish
life. If the applicant attends a school without a Hillel, this
recommendation can come from the campus chaplain or religious affairs
office. The
letter should be sent to CET directly by the recommender in a signed
and sealed
envelope. It can be mailed to the following address:
